Dolfinspeak is built around a few keys, so you can record from any app without reaching for the mouse.
Action | Default |
Record: hold to record, let go to finish | Option (either side) on a Mac, Right Alt on Windows |
Hands-free: keep recording without holding the key | Tap Space while holding the record key. Press the record key again to finish. |
Cancel the recording and throw it away | Escape |
On many European keyboards, Right Alt is AltGr, used to type @ and €. If that's a problem, choose another key.
Change a shortcut
Open Settings → Shortcuts, click a key, then press the key you want. Each row has a Reset to default button.
The record key has to be a modifier key. On a Mac: Option, Control, Shift, Command or Fn. On Windows: Ctrl, Alt, Shift or the Windows key.
The hands-free and cancel keys can be any key that doesn't type a character, such as F1 to F12, the arrow keys, Space, Enter, Tab, Backspace or Delete.
Inside the app
Action | Shortcut |
Show or hide the sidebar | Command-B (Control-B on Windows) |
To search filters, use the Search filters box in the sidebar.
There's no keyboard shortcut to open the Dolfinspeak window. Use Show Dolfinspeak in the menu of the Dolfinspeak icon in the menu bar (on Windows, the system tray).
