The clearer the sound, the better the text, and the better the result your filter writes from it. A few things make a big difference:
Set your spoken language. In Settings → Language, set Primary language to the language you speak. We support 18 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese and Korean.
Use a good microphone. A headset, or your computer's built-in microphone in a quiet room, both work well. Background noise hurts the most.
Speak at a steady pace. You don't need to slow down. Just avoid trailing off at the end of sentences.
Reduce echo. Hard, empty rooms add reverb that can blur words.
Record the right sources. For a call or a video, keep System audio on so the other voices come straight from your computer rather than through your speakers and microphone.
Teach Dolfinspeak your words
If a name or term keeps coming out wrong, add it to your Dictionary:
Open Dictionary in the sidebar.
Choose Add word.
Under When you say, type how it usually comes out. Under Replace with, type how it should be written.
Dolfinspeak applies your Dictionary to every recording, unless you've switched that word off.
If something is still consistently misheard, tell us at [email protected].
